For pretty much exactly the same reasons as concrete floors appeal to home owners – style, practicality, cost-effectiveness –  they are an attractive option for commercial and retail spaces such as bars, restaurants, fashion stores, art galleries and office foyers. Any high-footfall environment, basically.

caementa works with designers from the concept stage to ensure you achieve the perfect result and one that perfectly suits the mood you are trying to convey or the brand you are looking to represent.

The hygienic qualities and slip-resistant nature of concrete should also be music to the ears of your health and safety people.

We offer four types of concrete finish:

Microcement/Microscreed

TOP LINE

Our ‘Rolls-Royce’ option. The appeal of microcement (or microscreed flooring as it is sometimes known) is twofold: it’s versatile and it’s practical, giving you scope to truly personalise your living space and without the need to rip up what lies beneath it.

SCIENCE BIT

At just 2mm, microcement mortar is incredibly thin compared to conventional concrete. Thanks to its exceptional bonding properties, it can be applied over most existing substrates. Microscreed flooring has built-in elasticity which prevents cracking and tearing.

WHERE’S BEST?

Because it is waterproof, microcement is the perfect flooring solution for bathrooms and kitchens. It can also be applied externally, which makes it ideal if you want a seamless transition from living room to patio, for example.

WOW FACTOR

Microcement can be created in a wide range of colours and tones, so if there’s a favourite piece of furniture or artwork you want to set off, then you’re in the right place. And because it is applied by trowel, our skilled technicians can add texture and movement into the finished product.

Note: Colour matching can be created on request. Additional charge applies

In-Situ Terrazzo

TOP LINE

This smooth and uniformly attractive flooring comes into its own when you want to cover up a ‘problem’ surface – one that’s rough and/or uneven.  It’s quicker to apply than microcement and can be brought to shimmering life through the addition of flakes of silver or mother of pearl.

SCIENCE BIT

Unlike traditional concrete which has to be left for weeks or months to cure, our self-levelling seam-free overlay can be sanded or diamond polished the day after it is poured.

WHERE’S BEST?

Self-levelling overlay works well pretty much everywhere but appears mostly in living rooms. Some of the products we work with can be used for courtyards and patios.

WOW FACTOR

One of the major attractions of this style of finish is that it lends itself to diamond polishing for a high gloss or honed finish. So if you own or run a property which is blessed with big windows, you’ll be entranced by the way the light dances off the surface.

PanDOMO

TOP LINE

A great option if you want to create a terrazzo look at a fraction of the price and with zero maintenance. The overlay can be installed over any hard surface including concrete, insulation, separating layer or bonded construction.

SCIENCE BIT

The concrete overlay is sown with aggregates such as local stones/aggregates, crushed marble, glass and silica which are then exposed through polishing.  The end result has high abrasion resistance (anti-skid) and supreme durability.

WHERE’S BEST?

This is a non-nonsense finish that is ideally suited to your busy and high intensity areas indoors as well as outdoors. For that reason, it is a favourite across the board - residential, commercial and industrial.

WOW FACTOR

Hard-wearing, great-looking, safe and environmentally-friendly – okay, maybe it’s not a ‘wow’ but what’s not to like?

Electric Ultra-Thin Heating

From time immemorial, the sun has been warming all creatures on our planet. Its natural thermal radiation is omnipresent, it warms us directly from all sides, indirectly ensures a pleasant air temperature, and we feel comfortable and good. Without this natural thermal radiation there would be no life. This natural and healthy type of warming is the base of our thermofer panel heating system.

By slightly warming preferably large and many surfaces in our surroundings (apartment, office,) we create similarly natural conditions, in which we live cosily and healthily. Just like the solar radiation, the thermal radiation of the thermofer system comes from almost all directions, and the warm surfaces warm up the room air to a comfortable level. A natural room climate is thus created in which a larger part of the human’s heat balance is regulated by thermal radiation and a smaller part through the room air.

As you might have guessed, caementa (see-men-tah) is a Latin word. Originally, it described the small stones or rubble that were used in the manufacture of concrete, at which the Romans excelled. As it grew in popularity and the caementa urbis – the concrete walls of Rome – took shape, the word caementa was used to describe the finished structure rather than the method used to make it solid.
